Since presenting our first book 《Sydney, A Month of Warmth》 to the world, there have been so many thankful and warm moments for our family. Just as the clumsy yet sincere records of Sydney touched the hearts of many and blossomed into a book, the tip of Author Choyul (PassionOri)'s pen did not stop and was drawing out another journey.
This time, it is the story of our family's trip to Tokyo, Japan, leaving the warm beaches of Australia for a place that is a bit closer but holds a completely different charm. We officially introduce to our neighbors the freshly baked serialized work, 《Honey, the Kids Said They'd Go if it's Tokyo?》, which has successfully finished its run with a total of 20 episodes on Brunch Story! ✈️
📖 What kind of story is it?
As the kids grow older and become more independent, taking a trip together as a whole family by matching schedules becomes increasingly close to a miracle. Between their respective studies, daily lives, and the children preparing for independence, the daughters' single phrase, "If it's Tokyo, I'll go," became the starting point of this trip.
Between a mom (the author) whose head is always complicated with meticulously calculating work efficiency, budget, and schedule, and a dad who points out the value of 'time' gathered as a whole family over costs, saying, "I want to go together even if it's like that." In between them, the two daughters, Bada and Naru, who are growing up quickly and expanding their own universes, fill the book with the trivial yet precious moments shared together in every alleyway of Tokyo.

It's the story of the trembling first moment when the Tokyo trip was confirmed, going from a light dining table conversation to meticulous calculator tapping.

I recall my husband, who unhesitatingly booked an expensive flight ticket for Naru, who suddenly announced her participation the day before our past Fukuoka trip. "It's because I feel the most regret. I want to go together even if it's like that," he had said. And looking at the child walking bravely past the airport boarding gate without looking back once, it calmly gazes at a parent's heart and the time of the children growing up so fast.

The 20 episodes completed as a Brunch Book this time are planned to take step by step towards publishing a second physical book, just like the Sydney story. I plan to polish the text left on Brunch and fill it with warm shots kept in my heart and film camera from the alleys of Tokyo, starting preparations to be placed on the bookshelves of my neighbors as a more perfect standalone book.
The excitement and fear I had when publishing the first book remain the same, but recording the children's growth from their side and binding our family's time into text might be the most valuable legacy of life itself, I think. I will proceed with editing page by page with an excited heart about what kind of paper smell the records from Tokyo will give off as they meet the readers.
